The People

I was confused, worn down by fatigue, repetitive routines, an elusive happiness, the feeling of being unseen, the urge to shout and protest yet remain unheard, all of it a culmination of the people around me. Those who had offended me passed before my eyes; it was time for me to get serious. Art, in my view, stands as the savior of all humanity.

And so I play, I draw, I write... My initial goal is to purge myself and depict the individuals surrounding me, those who obstruct my path in a world where millions of lives and experiences coexist. In this realm, one finds vacant minds, open mouths, and those who silently scream due to anguish. A guiding query takes hold: What is the common denominator present in each individual that is conspicuously evident?

I sketch, illustrate, ink, delineate lines, compose notes, create, and stage, all while embodying the character's emotions. Over time, as I advanced and fashioned distinct characters in form, color, and sound, I realized that without having experienced similar emotions myself, I would never truly know them. For I channel feelings as I once lived them. I've never understood sorrow unless I myself have been sad. While each human being experiences sorrow in their own way, every emotion is potentially unique. Thus, each person becomes a shard of a reflective mirror of their existence, in which I glimpse myself.

In my perspective, every individual is in an ongoing struggle to achieve self-awareness and inner peace in life. Through the experience of diverse emotions and the acquisition of knowledge, we can gradually learn to tame them. Of course, the outcomes of these efforts and battles will not necessarily lead to inner peace, as to attain such a state requires a time equivalent to an entire lifetime for each individual.

One could say that this exhibition is closely aligned with the expressionist style. Given that the primary objective of this movement is to depict human inner experiences, particularly emotions like fear, hatred, love, and anxiety, the artist employs vibrant colors, twisted and distorted forms, as well as broken lines to evoke their own intense emotions. This exhibition aims to embody human feelings through characters, thus the exaggeration of colors, lines, shapes, and sounds in representation is quite prevalent within this style.

Why pastels? This painting tool allows no room for retracing and erasure, much like life itself. Time progresses, and one can never go back and alter the things we've done or even those we haven't. We can only amend them if necessary, much like working with pastels, layer upon layer. Hence, the utilization of pastels in this work could symbolize life's intricate interplay, change, and correction during the advancement process, as well as the irreversibility of decisions.

Furthermore, each artwork's title comprises adjectives that define the character.
